Douglas Coupland is probably best known as the writer who coined the term "Generation X." He has been aptly described as "the Dalai Lama" of that generation. The author of five novels--Generation X, Shampoo Planet, Microserfs, Girlfriend in a Coma, and Miss Wyoming--as well as two collections of short stories, Coupland is extremely popular and material by and about him is widely available on the web. One thing that will not be found on web sites devoted to him, however, is his chapter in Technology and the Future, since it was published under the pseudonym of Sandra Noguchi. Coupland was born in 1961 on a NATO base in West Germany. He was raised and still lives in Vancouver, Canada. |
