OTHER INTERESTSI am an avid swimmer, a half-decent amateur photographer, and a frequent traveller. One of my pictures was the May 6, 2001 "Photo of the Day" on (the now-defunct) Photopoint.com. A selection of more current photos can be found on my pbase.com site. Several of my photos from Italy were published in the April 2004 issue of Ocala Magazine. With my wife, Jill Pace, I am also the organizer of symposia on food and cooking (generally coordinated with gourmet dinners) at AAAS Annual Meetings. The 2002 symposium in Boston was on "The Science of Ice Cream."Jill is executive director of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers as well as a quilter. Some of her work can be found on her site, "Jill's Quilt Gallery." Finally, I am the father of two grown sons, Mitch (News Director of Arizona Public Radio [KNAU] in Flagstaff, Arizona and a contestant on "Jeopardy" in December 1999) and Ken (a law enforcement officer with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security), and a daughter, Samantha, who is an 8th grade student at Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland and who has generously contributed some of her artwork to this page. Samantha, who won second place in her category (Earth & Space Sciences) in the junior division of the 2002 Montgomery Country Science Fair, has her own web site, where you can see some more of her drawings and learn more about her. My first grandchild, Calvin Avery Teich, was born to Ken and Sara on August 5, 2001. His sister, Madelyn Elise Teich, was born March 13, 2004. |
